Crossing gate destroyed

  • May 21, 2024

Unfortunately, around lunchtime on Saturday 18th May 2024, the crossing gate closest to the station house was badly damaged from an incident involving a sand train. The gate and its ironworks was subsequently scrapped by Network Rail, who have ordered an identical replacement.

The gate will be installed some time around September or October 2024, as these gates are bespoke and are made overseas. At the same time the new gate is being installed, the remaining gate on the Lynn side of the level crossing will be refurbished.

In the meantime, temporary gates have been installed to replaced the stricken gates at the station.
