Setback: Unsuccessful in obtaining a Rural Communities Grant (Rural England Prosperity Funding)

Unfortunately, our application for a grant via the Rural Communities scheme has been rejected.

This also means that our application for partial funding from Railway Heritage Trust is on hold until we can pair it with another grant scheme.

In an email this morning, we were informed that "the Middleton Towers project has not been awarded a grant at this time. With the acknowledgement that the project has recently been in receipt of Borough Council CIL funding for the Phase 1 works, the panel were in agreement that external alternative investment support should be secured for next stage progression to better demonstrate wider project need and reduce risk for any potential future public funding investment.

Please accept the panels best wishes for project progression and do let us know if there are any additional queries."

We will therefore need to raise funds for the following items, via other means:

- Running in board (platform sign): £2,490

- New water connection: £6,523

- New electricity connection: £6,985

- Plastering, ceiling, rendering, baton/boarding: £10,475

- Electrical fittings, cables, switches (interior and exterior): £3,101.04

- Lamp post toppers x3: £434.97
